Of course if you're turbo system blows the engine, you won't run it that way again, so you'll be re-doing the intake, exhaust AND rebuilding an engine :-)   I can pretty much say that the rotary has a one engine chance of success.  If it blows, I'll be shopping for a Lycoming.

 

That’s hardly fair.  I have a friend who built a lancair IVP and had the engine blow up first flight..  he didn’t go shopping for a 20B.  Another friend just finished his RV-8 and sucked in a bolt at 100hrs.  He didn’t go shopping for a rotary either.  J  Trade in the turbo if you must, but you know that a na 13b will make plenty of power for an RV-3 and you have already done the hard part.  It would take more work to convert back at this point.
