Thanks Bob, so the sensor just operates an idiot light?  Probably needed for
factory setups since sump oil is injected into the intake. Hmmm....
This has recently been discussed over on the Cozy board, since pushers won't
discover a serious oil leak (like a crank seal pushed out) until pressure is
lost. A device called the "skinny dipper" was suggested, it rides in the
dipstick tube and operates a series of LED's to indicate oil level. Problem
is it cost several hundred $$$. Maybe this sensor could be adapted to Lyc's?

Hi Tim,

The 13B has a factory oil level switch in the pan.  You don't want to
have to buy one of those things either.  After whining about the cost,
Mazda gave me the wholesale price.  I think it was $120 something.
Later I found out I could have salvaged the old one.  The wire was
broken off, but by breaking off some plastic potting around it I could
have gotten to it.
