Dave,
The instructions I have indicates the triangular part of
the apex seal should be on the side toward the flywheel
(Rear) on both rotors. This means you can put the long piece in and hold
it there with a large rubber band, set the rotor down on its side housing and
then you can put the triangular piece in its slot and then the springs (small
spring first {:>)). Note. Make certain the small spring goes in
as far as you can get it. Also be careful that the springs don't
turn side ways as you put them in the slot.
I put masking tape over the coolant galleys because I have
had the small apex piece pop out of its slot (apparently that's what caused my
problem with the over-tight engine rebuild in May and it got trapped in one of
the milled holes of the rotor which provided just enough clearance that I could
button the engine down - but cause problems later on).
Taking a small screw driver/awl press down on the end of
the springs until you hear them snap into place. The end of the long
spring should slide to the outside(under) of the short spring
and its end should be secured under the notch of the triangular piece.
Once, you have everything in place, I recommend that your rotate the rotor on
the e shaft (assuming the rotor housing is in place) until each apex seal
is exposed in the exhaust housing. Note. Rotation can cause the
triangular piece to push out of its slot - so check it as you rotate the
rotor. Then Press on the apex seal with your finger through the
exhaust port to see that it has give -it should feel firm but it should
have some give, if it does not give, then you really need to check the
spring insertion again. You don't have to do this step, but it makes me
feel better {:>)
So there is no problem facing the triangular piece to the
rear (flywheel end) and my reference all indicates that is the way it should
be.

Subject: [FlyRotary] Help!! Installing
Tracy's apex seals
In Bruce's video he talks about putting the corner piece of the apex seal
toward the front of the engine. But with Tracy's seals the corner piece
is not attached. So I cannot get the apex seal spring to slide in because the
corner piece (now down at the bottom of the slot) has slid back a little.
If I put the corner piece toward the rear of the engine, I am able to get
everything in place just fine.
