Is it really miscolored blue like that? A lot of heat! Amazing if that didn't transfer to the sun gears, but I suppose the oil could have carried away the heat. I'd send the planet gear assembly as well, just to be sure.

Here is a pic of my sun gear. It looks to me like the drill and pin version but I hope I am wrong. The pin seems to have broken off in shear as I can rotate the 2 parts with my hands. No external signs of damage however. At least now we know the weak link in the the drive.
