I believe the thermal pallet is designed to allow some of the cold thicker oil to flow through the e-shaft bleed hole until the pallet heats up and seals off the hole - which forces ALL heated oil to flow through the journals. The 12A doesn't have this function, so I'm debating on whether to include it or not (in the single rotor) OR just seal the end of the oil passage as in the 12A.
George,
I have built many racing engines with at most a blow off valve for high pressure. You must be carefull not to race the engine when cold or you can damage something. I have exploded several oil filter canisters. Some type of bypass prevents operator error. If anybody but you will ever run the engine building somekind of idiot proofing is a good idea.
