Marc, The Mazda "electric turbocharger" is an electric assist. NOT electric drive. The motor is used to help spin the TC at low RPM so it will be effective sooner. To really push some air takes HP. As Rusty mentioned the effective Super/turbo charger in going to draw 30-40 amps. A belt driven supercharger can consume 30-50 hp at max RPM, it just provides much more than that on avarage.

Mazda already has a hydrogen powered rx8 with an electric turbocharger. They had
it on their website and Paul Larmar posted pictures of it.
BTW, what happened to Paul Larmar's email list? Is it shut down permanently?
