Tracy,
I would like to check on some EC-2
specs, before I layout my wiring harnesses this weekend. Some of the wire sizes sound too small
to me (like 22 ga for the power circuit on the ignition coils.) They may be able to handle the
amperage, but I am concerned about the voltage drops. I have a canard so my runs are much
longer than say an RV. So that I
can calculate wire size could you supply the following:
1. What is the max current the controller
can draw?
1/4 amp.
2. What is the minimum operating voltage
of the EC-2?
about 7 volts.
3. The terminal assignment sheet lists
both 32 and 33 as Controller Power Connections. Are these power connections internally
separated (i.e. 32 supplies circuit A, 33 supplies circuit B) or are they
internally connected?
Tied together
internally.
4. What is the max current draw on each
ignition coil (not the trigger circuit.)
If they saturate they can
draw as much as 8 amps each. Normally they do not saturate so average
current is much lower.
5. What is the max current draw on the
injectors and minimum operating voltage.
I have a 40 to 50 foot circuit length and want to make sure 22 ga is
big enough.
2 amps. 50 feet?
wow.
6. Is the coil disable test switch
required? I am using 2 circuits
supplying power to the coils, one on the primary coils and one on the
secondary coils. This will allow
me to isolate/test the primaries or secondaries.
That will work fine. You can
eliminate the test switch if you
want.
