Hi Rusty, seems to me the whole idea of building the runners and horns in a plenum is shooting for 'tuned induction' .With this idea you have just screwed any chance of achieving tuned length. Ram air in the inlet at 100kt {V climb} is good for less than 1/4 psi at best, the tuned length has much more benefit for volumetric efficiency than 1/4 psi. Put a filter on the plenum and as far from it as will fit under the cowl. FWIW, Dave McC { 6.5b in gestation}

Greetings,

I've been trying to think of a way to incorporate a filter, along with one of Tracy's shoebox type intakes.  What do you think about putting a small K&N filter on the end of each of the intake tubes (see crude "paint"ing)?  I would lose the air horns, but it would seem like a fairly low loss on the filter restriction since the plenum is pressurized.

Cheers,
Rusty (entertaining the list)
