Thank you, Rusty and John....today I
went to the airport and ran the engine for a couple of minutes and
checked the water temp readings. ECU water temp readings were -24 C. I
cut the wire that shared the water temp sending unit with the ECU, and
the temp immediately went up to 48 C. That's more like it. The engine
has a stock water temp sender next to the oil pressure switch. I will
try using that to send temp information to my engine monitor. If that
does not work, I will install another temp sending unit like the one
that came stock in the water pump housing.
Of course all the time I spent
programming maps are out the window, as they were programmed with
erroneous water temp input. Fortunately, I have finally gotten
comfortable and familiar with the programming, so it won't take long to
reprogram the maps to suit the correct water temp readings.
Thanks again for informing me
that I could not wire two devices to one sending unit. Now, the after
start enrichment works properly, and my ECU should also function better
with proper temp inputs. Paul Conner
