Subject: [FlyRotary] Re: Builder Risk
Insurance
Nation Air / EAA will write the
policy at 1% of hull value.
Was this a typo, or do you really mean
1%?
However once completed no other
insurance is available through EAA or Nation Air. Avemco said after 100 hours
of flight they had a third party that will write liability only. No one will
cover the aircraft if a storm blows the hanger down.
Try calling SkySmith. Scott really
worked hard to get me liability coverage on my RV-3. I believe they
insure several other rotary guys as well. I never asked
about builders coverage, nor anything beyond the liability that's
needed for my hanger police.
What we need is a list
of aircraft flying and those being build along with any other "certified
engine" aircraft owned by these individuals. If we take fifty flying aircraft
/ builders risk and bid it as a package to the underwriters "winner take
all" then we might get their attention.
Interesting
idea. Can't hurt to try.
