George L, And all who may be interested,
I'm checking out the availability on direct injection parts. The Mercury Optimax 2 stroke 6 and 4 cylinder parts should make it possible to direct inject the rotary. Several cool items about this injection are, you can inject into the compression side prior to the plugs, the system uses an air assist compressor (belt driven) to help the fuel pump giving super atomization, and also the air compressor unit also contains the oil injection pump (2 stroke remember) making it possible to do separate tank injection of 2 cycle oil for the apex seals if so desired! Some of the FI savy among us may know that Orbital Engines of Austrailia makes this injection for Mercury. The coolest part about that is that you can get parts form your outboard store pretty much anyplace. The injection can be all plug side so no fuel on the exhaust problem. Another feature that is beneficial is that the outboards are designed for almost a 100% duty cycle so the equipment is pefect for our continual high output needs. The injectors are electronic so they can be run by most of the currently available EMS units. I started this search for Jerry Hey and myself of course. I'll post more info as it arrives if people are interested.
