[FlyRotary] Re: [FlyRotary]2002 crash of Taylor
Coot w/13b
Yes I brought that same point
up to NTSB but they were stuck on the Mazda dealer mechanics opinion
that it was from removing the oil injection.
What does a dealer mechanic know
anyway all they do is replace engines.
The NTSB guy was very rude and acted
like I was wasting his time, he said that
he thought it was very unsafe to remove the oil injection as Mazda put
it there for a reason so I replied that I have been flying an unsafe
airplane for over 1000 hrs then.
Ken
Perry,
I picked up on the same item, at the end of the
report.
One doesn't get galling of the rotor bearing surfaces from
lack of apex seal lubrication. Plus, the oil pump itself
exhibited galling. Sounds like he lost his oil pressure.
If he'd only be flying 1.25 min., that pretty much limits
it down to a leak somewhere in the path to~from the oil
cooler.
If y'all have any doubts about the security of your
oil
path, now's a good time to make certain that nothing can
easily come loose.
