Two problems I see with the Teflon fix are that Teflon flows and creeps
quite a bit and secondly, stainless steel wire is soft and tends to bend
under load. I would at least try using a stiff piano grade wire to increase
the stiffness, but you are still giving up a good bit of strength in your
hinge with this smaller diameter pin and this won't cure the Teflon creep
issue.
Try Carbinge - no slop no wear - bonds to place - nylon bearing - standard
size hard steel pin.
