Why use the conduit at all?  The 'D' section on
the leading edge will be sealed from the fuel bays and have no significant
obstructions or bends.<<

My main reason for running the conduit is to facilitate adding wires in the
future.
Without it, wires could get hung up going thru the holes in the ribs.

BTW, for me, in addition to freeing up all the fuel bays, an equally
persuasive reason for making the leading edge dry was to minimize the risk
of a fuel spill from hangar rash<<

And yes, leaving the leading edge dry is an additional benefit. Also having
the small web under the joggle will aid in a better bond (Not bending under
weight).
