Did you read the AIM 1-1-21?  GPS is DIFFERENT and, as a responder to Mike Busch's AVweb article about using the 530 said, "...for the first time the FAA has chosen to micro-manage all aspects of GPS..."  Remember that Garmin nicely provided the 195 with vertical guidance on the HSI page (VNAV).  The FAA doesn't allow that on a "panel mount" and also stops the VNAV function from operating as soon as you are on an approach.  You know, just when you need it.

The question you raised should be directed to your local FSDO -- they are the ones that do the final sign off. Perhaps you could contact an FAA inspector or DAR.  We would all be interested in the result.

I wired my 320 panel, including an S-Tec 50, Garmin 155 IFR approach GPS, annunicator/switches (50 pin cable), King 209? CDI, King 75 resolver, etc.  The Garmin 155 was a follow-on installation (replacing a LORAN unit) in 1997, a year after the plane was certified.  I signed it off.  I don't know if it was "legal", but I think the rules changed somewhere along the line.

The Garmin x30 is a complex unit and can receive and send a wide variety of aviation data.  It can take in and use air data and fuel data.  It can send ARINC 429 data for steering autopilots and informing HSI displays and maps.  Go to your local avionics shop and look in the install manual at the pin-outs for the 530.  This may influence your choice of other navigation support equipment.  It may also help understanding why the FAA wants an authorized shop to do the install and why they (the FAA) want to sign it off.
