I am in the process of installing the winglets for my IV-P.  The process has
been going, shall we say, less than smoothly.  Hopefully I get some help
from your experience.

1.    The instructions I received a week or so ago with the winglets have a
revision date of 2/21/96.   The instructions I received in "Manual 1 -
Fastbuild kit assembly" has a more recent revision date of 2/01/98.  One
difference between the two versions is the addition of a "paper template"
(page 2-21) in Rev. 2/01/98 which, I assume, is intended as a guide in
verifying the trailing edge dimension in relation to the wing.  I did not
receive this.
Q:    Has anyone received this template and is it necessary?

2.   I see no way of maintaining  the leading edge dimension of 12.5" from
the wings (page 2-21) and also maintaining a "perfectly" straight,
continuous edge for the leading edge for the wing and winglets.  It appears
that approximately 1/4 to 3/8" of an inch would have to be removed from the
12.5" dimension of the winglet joggle to achieve that condition.  I should
also point out that there appears to be a slight change of angle of the
leading edge of the wing in the last few inches from the outboard edge.  If
this angle is used and not the major portion of the wing leading edge, the
winglet is closer to being in line.  However this angle chance may be an
inconsistency in the wing mould and not a deliberate design feature.
Q:    Has anyone experienced this same situation.  If so would
it be better to reduce the 12.5" dimension or have the winglet slightly (a
degrees or so) out of parallel with the leading edge of the wing?

(the standard wing tips are looking better every day)

Thanks you help
