One of the best additions to my shop was moving my shop vac outside and
running a big pvc line back overhead to the middle of the ceiling. This
gets the noise away and keeps the discharge air from blowing the fod on the
floor back into the air. The real advantage is having the vac hose handy so
you can hold it near the cutter or attach it to the sander, etc.. I even
rigged a switch at the end of the hose to make it easier to operate.

The pneumatic tools in the Lancair shop are "never lubed to avoid oil
contamination," they just buy the cheap tools and throw them away when they
die.
