I'll be there May 18 to start my Legacy and it
will be put into the sun-n-fun truck to be the display kit. from there
I will Ryder it home to cleveland..
Try to get the guy at Ryder (or Budget in Fla.) to let you drive the truck
at highway speeds before you load your kit. Our 24' Ryder was the lowest
mileage one on the lot @ 15,000 and the tires were so far out of balance
between 40 and 50 mph it was like a sound barrier buffet.
is there anything that you wanted to do but ran out of time?
Not really, my main concern was to take advantage of the factory jigs to
align and close everything we could and we did. We got the main spar load
pads in which aligns the wing raidally and clecoed the centersection to
establish the wing square to the fuselage. It should be no problem to get
the incidence set when the centersection is bonded to the fuselage. The
fuselage will not fit in a Ryder or U-Haul if the centersection is bonded on
but its no big deal to do when you get home.
where did you stay hotell wise for the workshop?
Super 8 is the Motel of Choice, about a mile from Lancair. Fairly new and a
deal @ $42, the train went right by our room but we were too tired to
notice.
did you
rent a car for the week? Borrowed a friends Land Cruiser and its a good
thing, we met some folks for dinner one night, down the road in Bend and had
1 ft snowdrifts in the parking lot. Got back to Redmond and it was only a
trace.
