It appeared to have been chafing against one of the rack through bolts. Uncorrected, this problem would surely have eventually caused a failure of the nylaflow brake line. Interestingly, this would have resulted in the same set of symptoms experienced by the pilot who ran out of runway at Aspen: no right brake and hydraulic fluid dripping down the right gear leg. No criticism of nylaflow is intended. I expect the result would be the same if the brake line were made of stainless steel. Why did I choose this morning to look in that wheel well?
