Hi all,
I have a question about the aileron control horn attach brackets. I'm
at the point where I'm just about ready to close out the ailerons and am
measuring out where to install the rivnuts for the control horn attach
brackets. The aileron web at the inboard span of the ailerons are about
3/8" narrower than the TE wing skins. They came that way from the
Neico. All the drawings indicate that the control horn attach brackets
are installed flush with the bottom skin on the webface. With the 3/8"
gap, there is no way that I can install it flush with the bottom aileron
skin where it rolls over because of the gap.
My question is......do I build up the web with 4 or 5 bid to cover the
gap, or can I install the control horn attach brackets 3/8" higher on
the webface? I don't like the idea of building the webface up because
the holes for the bracket bolts will be right at the 3/8" point. I'm
thinking that installing them at a location farther up the web face will
affect the amount of travel. But, will the amount that it affects the
travel be enough to not allow proper adjustment? Am I thinking
correctly or does it matter?
Any opinions will be appreciated.
