Mike,
I found pre-formed hose in various curves and angles at a local Trak-Auto store that worked well to get around some interfering equipment. It was S-shaped in the X-Y plane and then a 90 deg bend down in the Z plane. Straight aluminum tubing finished the routing to the bottom of the cowling.
Be sure that the routing remains in a warm/hot air environment and has no "low" points in flight or when parked. On a recent very cold day we had a Varieze with a seized engine 5 minutes after takeoff perform a nice off-airport dead-stick landing because the crank seal blew out, followed by all the oil -- Moisture collected in the crankcase breather tubing froze it closed.
