I spoke to Jon Goldenbaum at length about Smooth Prime last year at Oshkosh. Jon is the fellow that wrote the book (literally) on the Poly-Fiber Flight Gloss system. They had recently come out with a new product called "Pre-Prime Sealer" which is intended to close out the bottom of the pinholes, so that the Smooth Prime doesn't continue to sink in and reform shallow indentations (pinholes). I can only assume that the Pre-Prime Sealer was developed to fix the problems of "continued shrinkage".
Caveat: I have not used the stuff yet, though I intend to. I'm going to prime as I go, giving lots of time for any shrinkage to occur before I color-paint. I may actually only do the priming myself and let a pro do the topcoat, which will probably require a faster curing paint. Goldenbaum said that would work, though if I didn't use a Poly-Fiber color coat an additional primer coat would be needed (no additonal body-work-style sanding, though, since that would have already been done).
