I've found that for shear/low strength connections the use of an AN525 washer head screw can save about 1 gram per piece over a comparably sized AN bolt. Won't work for all applications due to the requirement of using a short screwdriver instead of a wrench but it does help with the weight reduction.
On another note are there any builders that have a 37 deg flaring tool they could lend out for a coupla months while I work my hydraulic system installation?
I do have a 18" 90 deg snake drill attachment that takes the 1/4-28 threaded drill bits that I'm done using (made the nose gear attach tunnel holes easy) if anyone wants to use it...I could lend it out indefinitly. It's just like the one that ACS has in the tool section only 18 vs 30 inches long.
E-mail me directly to talk about the flaring tool/snake drill.
Thanks.
