Thanks for bringing that back to everyone's attention, Rob.  It's time to hold PPA's feet to the fire... back some months ago they stated that they were going to have these same little "gizmos" available with a quartz or glass pyramid on the end, making the unit capable of withstanding some pretty high temps.  I just wanted to remind everyone that this is the gadget that will be able to be used as an oil level sensor in the crankcase.  Perhaps it's time to contact them to see if they're any closer to making it a reality.
