I don't see the problem here.  Probably better to hop up a new engine than an old tired one.  Hal Woodruff and Chuck Moon both have souped up engines.  Hal's was done by Ly-Con and he was very happy with it.  I don't know who did Chuck's.  Perhaps you could contact them and get their first-hand opinions.
