I sent a posting in about a month ago saying that Avemco charged $1 per thousand of coverage for aircraft under construction.  Apparently I was wrong.  For the last several years I had $30K of coverage, for which I paid $306 per year.  I just increased the coverage to $65K since there's now an engine in my garage (Yay!) and I've bought a bunch of other parts in the interim.  The policy cost for $65K of coverage is $458.

I understand that the primary loss mechanism for these things is a house fire.  (I didn't tell them that I live within two miles of the San Andreas fault....)  Unfortunately, when your house burns down all of your sales receipts go up in smoke.  So I'm sending my receipts to them later this week. They also value my construction time at $15 per hour.

I don't really want to know how much I've spent so far, but there's no getting around it this time.
