I just started installing the optional canopy latch system from Lancair.
I drilled the 1 1/2" hole in the left side of the fuselage for the outside handle. The handle sticks out from the fuselage about 5/8" on the bottom where the fuselage curves. (not pretty)
Can I cut out the outer skin and the pre peg core in the shape of the handle to inset the handle, bonding it to the inner skin. This will make the handle more streamline?

Is this the best way to go?

Does anyone have any pictures?
