Don, something has gone seriously astray.  With the centering modification, the wheel should center as the gear leaves the ground, not the reverse.  The only adjustment to be made is raising or lowering the strut with dry nitrogen to make sure the sure the wheel will pivot when weight is on the gear.  It's time to talk to Verne.
