Q--Will the TSIOL-550 fit in the IVP cowling without mods?
A--NO. It uses a single turbocharger in a different location. You will also need a radiator!
Q--Weight penalty due to cooling jacket etc?
A--TSIO-550-E base dry weight = 566 lb
TSIOL-550-C base dry weight = 551 lb
This does not include the cooling system. You need to add a radiator, expansion tank, and plumbing. On the Extra 400 it was calculated as almost a wash.
Q--Will the TSIOL-550 be capable of running on 93 octane auto fuel with the FADEC retrofit?
A--It has not been demonstrated. It has a very high detonation margin to without FADEC. FADEC will not add more margin but will allow you to run closer without risk. The turbocharged FADEC system will have a knock sensor as standard to protect it from detonation.
