Doug,
Q--Quick question. Can you shed any light on the forced landing of the Cessna 210 equipped with the Continental FADEC while it was on its way to OSH?
A--Not touching this one. The investigation is still open. I only deal with facts and I don't know the whole story. I'll get the "official" story and report back.
Q--I heard through the rumor mill that there was some problem with the FADEC system and vapor lock. True?
A--I've not seen any vapor issues in all the test cell running I've done.
Q--I originally blew it off, but then heard that another fellow who installed the same FADEC in his experimental has already had 4 in-flight engine stoppages, also attributed to vapor lock in the injectors on the cylinder heads. Any info on that?
A--No comment now. I don't know all the details. I'll ask directly and get the story direct. Who did you get this info from?
Q--What sort of backup does the Cont FADEC build in for such problems?
A--FADEC runs the entire fuel system at 30-42 psig and uses a high pressure(25psig min.) boost pump for starting and vapor suppression. Very hard to get vapor lock at that pressure.
ERic--
