He has a course outline or syllabus, but is very flexible and will spend as much time as the participants wish in pursuing specific answers to questions. Most of the folks in the seminar I attended had a list of questions before they got to the class, almost certainly questions they had been struggling with in building their projects. Every issue was addressed by Bob with patience and logic, and I believe that everyone (there were about 30 of us) got their questions answered by the end of the weekend. Nuckolls has decades of experience solving real-world electrical problems in prototype aircraft applications and he seems to draw equally on electrical theory and pragmatism to arrive at solutions that are as simple as a problem allows. He's a believer in the idea that if multiple solutions address the same problem, the simplest (and sometimes the cheapest) of the solutions is probably the best. If I had to list a weakness about the course, it would be that Bob has so many things going on inside his noggin that he can sometimes get sidetracked while providing an answer or explanation to a question. He will begin to answer a question one way, then suddenly decide to veer off into an illustrative story based on a similar problem solved on a former project. Once in while you might need to lead him back to a specific point to get the rest of the answer, but overall I learned a heck of a lot and thought the weekend definitely worth my time. As a result, I've offered him the use of our facility in Watsonville (on the Monterey Bay in Northern California) for his seminars, and I think he's probably going to take us up on it.
