(Lancair staff members report that most Lancairs will tend to overheat if left too long on the ground; these planes need the massive volumes of cooling air supplied by high airspeeds to remain cool.): I. Firesleeve everything (oil and fuel lines) below the cylinders and behind the plenum. 2. Move the distributor to above the cylinders where it will be supplied by fresh cooling air. 3. Supply blast air to a shroud around both fuel pumps. 4. Derive additional cooling air from a NACA duct sized for a 3 inch scat tube to your oil cooler. 5. Operate your engine on the ground with the aux. fuel pump "on" as this increases pressure on the fuel thus retarding vaporization. As you increase in flying experience and/or confidence in your aircraft, you will "idle" less by doing some of your radio/instrument preflight with the engine off, thus creating less heat.
