I used a 10-32 threaded end cable for the prop on my IO-360. My prop governor is in the back, and I,m using the one Vern has for the 360 (McCauley) with the long mount. You have to make a aluminum bracket that mounts on the back of the governor, but you need to do this anyway. I would install the threaded version.
By the way, when I started to work out the routing of the cable for my prop governor, the control arm was not in a good position for the route I wanted the cable to take. I found out from American Propeller that you can loosen the 6 screws on the back plate and rotate the arm to a different clock position without disturbing the governor setting.
