The outcome of the "cable end" discussion, as I recall is that the "pin
vice" has been known to break the wire, the "bolt-type" is risky, and the
"B-nut" is the best.

I was using the drilled bolt type, and switched to the "B-nut".  There are
some close-up pictures of it on my web page.
