Adam,
Any unintentional movement of flight controls or flaps at the hinge line or control linkage connections is bad juju.
From photos of Legacy flap hinges, it looks like the spherical bearings are much like what we LNC2 owners have in our elevator hinges. If so, those are readily available from bearing dealers. I had to replace one worn out bearing in my elevator. The number was stamped right on the periphery of the bearing. Prior to replacement there was very slight up/down movement. Afterward, zero.
If you have any piano hinged parts, what many of us LNC2 owners have done is discard the stock hinge pins and replace them with 3/32 stainless steel welding rod. On all my hinges, these were a very close fit. Others have reported having to ream out the hinge holes to fit. Before doing this, my ailerons moved up/down enough to make black soot trails aft of the hinge. After replacement, no more soot.
Good luck,
Tom Thibault
