How about a Free Tactile Reminder?  I have not tried this but it ought to work.  Cut an old sock about 4” from the toe and slide it over the Throttle.  AFTER the canopy latch is confirmed down and you have pushed up on the canopy to verify latched, REMOVE the sock.  Then put the Sock on the Throttle after shutdown.  I know this sounds silly, but it just might work.

We were taught Five Alive (actually Six) before taking the runway.   So far this has worked well. 

1.      Canopy-Latched

2.      Flaps-10 degrees

3.      Trim Tabs-Set

4.      Fuel Selector-Set and Time

5.      Mixture-Rich

6.      Prop-Full Forward
