Hello again -
First, thanks for all the positive feedback! It's quite a change to
be giving back to the community for once.
I wanted to collect the questions so far in one spot, and take a
stab at answering them:
Question: Price?
Answer: $450 for the box, connectors, and lights; add $150 for
full set of prox sensors. Subtract $158 if you don't want the
lights. This is just parts and labor--my motivation is to improve
gear indication reliability!
Question: What kind of metal do the prox sensors detect?
Answer: I have data for copper, aluminum, brass,
stainless steel, and iron. Theoretically, it should work with any
conductive metal. The sensors are inductive, not magnetic...which
is really slick!
Question: Mounting options--photos of install?
Answer: This is a separate experiment I'm working on--I want
to mount the prox sensors directly on the overcenter links (thanks
to Chris Zavatson for the inspiration, see
his article here). I think it's the best option, but you
could either use the existing micro switches or use the prox sensors
to sense any part of the gear system (including the actuator pins
for the stock system).
I think that's everything so far. Let me know if I missed
something!

P.S. Obviously, this is an experiment and it's entirely up to the
installer to determine applicability and suitability for intended
use.
