| The article heading was certainly meant to attract attention but nowhere did I read your interpretation of "certainty" of death by second flight. If there's a statistical meta-message in that article I missed please clue me in.
I'd rather have Peter and others post all the good and bad stuff and I will do my best to figure out how I wish to to deal with that information--or not. It's not productive to shoot the messenger in an online community especially when it is clear that high performance kits have a good share of accidents and press headlines. We need to increase the flow of information about safety and make sure we're not taking any steps to muffle it.
Our local 288 EAA chapter has tremendous meetings with no FUD in the air and plenty of safety talk. It is full of RV, Lancair and builders of other types. I could never imagine calling any of them builders of spam cans. It would be seen as slur on their abilities and accomplishments. Especially since we had two Lindy awards in 2012 from our single chapter, one being an RV-7:
Robert Kurrle, Port Orange, Florida2012 Van's RV-7, N56RK
Scott Roth, Port Orange, Florida2012 F1 Rocket, N910SH
Paul Miller Legacy RG Spruce Creek
From: John Cooper < snopercod@comporium.net> ..want to hear how the Lancair is a dangerous plane and chances are good
that we're going to die on our first flight - or most certainly by the
second one... |
