I don't have a 4p, but years ago, I was flying an = arrow and the snow actually slowed me down. Recently I put my Legacy on the runway at Logan, it was the softest landing= I ever made, I used even braking and slowed right down. It was really coo= l (no pun intended). If it is really snow ( and not ice ), I think there must be some energy abs= orption via the virtue that you are pushing the wheels through powder, and = our wheels are small. I love it. Of course, I like driving on snow as well, my wife thinks I'm= nuts. Perhaps she's right :) Kevin ________________________________________ From: Lancair Mailing List [lml@lancaironline.net] On Behalf Of bronnenmeie= r@GROBSYSTEMS.COM [bronnenmeier@GROBSYSTEMS.COM] Sent: Wednesday, December 18, 2013 1:44 PM To: lml@lancaironline.net Subject: [LML] 4P landing on snow Dear subscribers, We have winter in Ohio now and most of our runways are plowed but still do = have compacted patchy snow on it. Is there anybody on the list who can give me some advice on departing and l= anding a 4P on snow? How much runway do I need if braking action is very small? Does it behave l= ike normal or is it much different on snow? How do you hold it straight at = the start when the rudder is not working yet? Any input is appreciated. Thanks Ralf=
