I completed building my legacy in 2009 and one of the main focuses was to have a panel that I was familiar with. I installed the G 900 panel into my aircraft as I was flying a diamond DA 40 the G 1000 panel. This eliminated learning the instruments for me so I could focus on the aircraft. At the time of my transition I had only 400 hours flying time between gliders, 172's and the diamond DA 40. I received my instrument ticket in the diamond. Before transitioning into the legacy I received my complex and high performance signoff. I first completed 10 hours the transition training in the factories legacy. Right after the completion of the 40 hour fly off time by my test pilot Pete. We immediately flew the airplane to Florida which was my first flight as PIC in my new legacy and completed the weekend ground school for Lancair aircraft's. I spent the following week in Florida with a instructor hopping from airport to airport and completing emergency procedures. By the end of the week I flew my legacy home to North Carolina by myself.. During the first year I always took the opportunity to fly with a qualified instructor when the opportunity presented itself to learn more about the capabilities of the aircraft and practice emergency procedures. At that time I understand I was one of the lowest time pilots that have ever transition into this great aircraft As you're probably aware of my aircraft is for sale and it's a wonderful machine to fly. The tail number is N2AA. Regards Russell Steiner -----Original Message----- From: Greenbacks, UnLtd. I have no knowledge of his experience or qualifications so I'm wondering what this group would consider a responsible transition from one into the other? I'll pass along your suggestions to him.
