I took my door handle to a machine shop and had them weld two ~1/8" pins to the removable handle and drill two corresponding holes in the end face of the associated shaft. I think it cost around $75. I feel it was well worth it. Such a poor design in the first place, what a pity. So, the screws hold the handle in position, but the pins take the shear loading. Applied loctite to the tiny screws. The finish was damaged on the handle where the welding was done, but it is not easily noticeable.
I had sheared several screws before coming up with this solution. Has been in service with no squawks for 4 years.
