It has an oring and stays on. For draining,= I use a hot engine and screw the adapter on until it reaches resistance the= n I slip the hose on. You need gloves if you just landed. Turn the adapter= which opens the valve and oil runs out. The next morning when cold you can= still see a drop every minute but I just pull the hose, unscrew the adapter= and put the assembly in a plastic bag with paper towels to soak up any resi= dual.
