Is there a safety wire hole on the cap somewhere that I = don't see? ------------------------- Kevin, The plug part that screws (permanently) into the oil pan has an internal va= lve that's opened when you remove the safety cap and insert the drain cap--= If you put a hose on it first, the oil goes where you want it to. If you do= n't bother with the hose, you might as well just take out the plug as recom= mended by another poster... :-) But to answer your question, the cap is a "safety plug." The primary valve = is internal, and closes with a spring when the drain plug is removed. Mine = doesn't have a safety wire on the cap, but the basic plug is safety-wired t= o the oil pan. The cap has an internal O-ring that holds it securely in pla= ce when it's screwed on.=20 Hope this helps. BOB
