Lancair sell a low profile quick drain that replaces the sump plug.

Works well and no mess. I wish I could say the same when removing the oil filter.

Mike Mahar in Ohio will modify your oil drain nut with this 45 degree spout that gets around the interference – see photo below.

But, if there’s a good, easy way to cleanly get the oil out without going to all this trouble, we’d go that path rather than get our engine off its mounts to screw the modified oil drain nut on…
