I can't think of a group more likely to rush out and buy this than Lancair builders.

According to Aviation Week, Space Electronics Inc of San Diego has just announced a "nuclear event detector" which "senses ... radiation pulses generated by a nuclear event" and sends out a signal within 20 ns to "protect electronic systems' memory, stop data procesing, drive power supply crowbars and signal clamps."  An additional feature is a "nuclear event flag ... which remembers the event" (in case you forget about the big bright flash and the mushroom cloud, I suppose...)

Be the first on your airport to have a nuclear-safe Lancair!

As Dave Barry says, "I am not making this up!"  (AW&ST, 21 August 2000, page 81)
