During its overhaul, the prop shop found cracks in my backup plate beneath two of the four re-enforcement plates.  They were difficult to see, but obvious when closely inspected.  Although I thought I was diligently looking at the plate at every 25 hour oil change, I clearly wasn't being diligent enough.  The plate had 260 hours on it.
