Whether you like it or not, flying is risk management. I have studied many home build accidents over the years. These particular canopy accidents were caused by a failure to secure the canopy. If the canopy was locked its fair to say these people would still be alive. So what caused these pilots to not lock the canopy? This is the question that must be answered. Then the solution is pondered. Not the other way around. I was just trying to get everyone off of putting the cart before the horse.
As for flight testing, I have in the past performed several flight test on the Lancair 360 to determine flight characteristics with the canopy unlocked at the request of the owner. Also funded by the owner. I would be willing to perform the same testing for the insurance fee with a Legacy. Mike Sent from my iPhone
