Peter,

Where did you place the stratus in the cockpit? In the sun or in shade? I just purchased one but have not put it to a real test yet. I have mounted it to the top of the canopy with a suction cup mount. I also made a shade of sorts to keep it protected from the sun.

There is also another app that you can run that is called Horizon that makes your ipad an EFIS.

i have foreflight and Stratus; it is wonderful. its got it all.
   well, not all; no synthetic vision. but everything else.
        and inexpensive.
            buy an ipad 2 64gb on ebay and get the Stratus from Sporty's

Depends what you need.

I use Foreflight on my iPad mini and am very happy with it.

There are other programs than Foreflight and there are other Android devices too.

There are a number of good comparison articles out there. Suggest you check them out.
