An accident happened about twenty years ago or so and was reported in A= viation Safety.  It's one that you never forget because the perfectly r= unning Cessna slammed into mountainous terrain while basically flying straig= ht and level.  The female occupant ended up with her head somewhere und= er the pilot side instrument panel and the pilot's clothing was in sufficien= t disarray that the diagnosis was fairly clear.  You just have to wonde= r after all these years if he was able to achieve the happy ending before th= e lights went out.  No report in the article about body fluids so we ar= e left to ponder.

Darwin awards are always there for the winning.

Sounds un-professional and a lack of good judgement= in this model of high performance aircraft doing 5 miles a minute. You can'= t safely fly if you are not mentally engaged.
Everyone has their opinion and this one is mine,
Swaid Rahn
I have a pilot friend at the local airport that has= bragged to me about his repeated renewal (in his twin Baron) of his members= hip in the Mile High Club.  I won't bore you with the details.

But when asked with a certain level of disbelief, he comments that the membe= rship requirement could easily be fulfilled in my Lancair IVP, and encourage= s me to do so with certain positional methods and advice.  I remain spe= culative, given my level of Situational Awareness and understanding the spac= e available in the Lancair.  Still, he believes it is very possible.
Has anyone joined that Club in a Lancair, and how did you manage throttle/pr= op/mixture (especially LOP operations) during the membership drive?  An= y autopilot issues?  Other insights would be interesting.

I recently completed my annual recurrency with LOBO, but I didn't discuss th= is crew resource management issue with my instructor.
