Like Dr. Fopp, I have a harder time hearing ambient sounds when I'm wearing the Lightspeed 20K headsets -- like the stall warning horn in my Cessna 150. If I know it's coming -- like practicing slow flight or stalls -- then it's okay. Makes me wonder what would happen if I really needed the warning, but then, if you can't tell you're near stall in a 150 you probably don't have any business flying one.
For what it's worth, I'll be using Jim Frantz' AoA gizmo, which will give stall warning through the headset.
Yes, you are a little less aware of engine and airstream noise when wearing an ANR headset, IMHO. But the hearing protection and reduced fatigue are worth it.
